I have always loved working out with weights. I found the gym the ultimate good old boys club. I would go to exercise, but I got just as much from hanging out with my buddies. It was certainly cheaper and safer than hanging out in the bars.
After my first son was born, it became impossible to make it to the gym on a regular basis let alone spend 90 minutes at a time for a workout. I found myself sleep deprived and eating fast food in place of home cooked meals. My muscle mass began to decline, while my weight jumped at an alarming rate. But the worst part was that I felt like I was 60 years old. Then a funny thing happened. My parents live in a different state, and I hadn't seen them in a few months. When our families got together for a wedding, I hardly recognized my dad. This person who called himself my father had lost 25 pounds and seemed to roll back the hands of time. He looked fabulous. What happened? My Dad told me about the Old School New Body Plan and how it had made him feel 20 years younger. My first reaction was that I didn't have time to spend on an old school plan that is designed for older guys. Here is a before and after picture of my dad, John. As you can see he looks pretty amazing!
If this old school program can work for my Dad who hadn't done a bit of exercising in years, it certainly should work for me. Drinking lots of water, eating healthy, and working out with a system coined The Focus4 Exercise Protocol, or F4X for short, are the key elements of the Old School New Body Plan. How hard could this be?
I am not a person who responds well to structured, rigorous plans, so I decided to develop my modified program. I found this video on YouTube and will start with it:
That is where I am today. I am going to start my plan. Check back with me in a couple of weeks to review my progress.
